The Eternal Sands - Prompt 5

Maerek sat stiffly, her body still aching from the last fight. She had triumphed, of course, but her opponent was stronger than she had initially surmised. As she sat, letting the dry air into her lungs, she gazed at the surrounding landscape.


It was sand. Just...sand. No rolling dunes, no color other than the greenish-brown of the desert at night. Clutching the dagger in her hand, she wondered if the sacrifice of her friends would be worth the prize.
