Hello everyone! I'm EldMug, the developer/owner of FirstCoffee Studios. I'm a small-time indie developer that makes web-based games. My interest doesn't lie in fancy graphics or giant open worlds. I have little patience (and time) to learn how to do all that fancy work. All that aside, here's some points I'd like to make about the games I make and love.

  1. I love games with RP (role-playing) features. Things like experience bars, levels, classes, abilities, spells, etc. Most of my games will feature some sort of opportunity to engage with a world as someone or somebody else. Let your mind relax and allow yourself to tell a story or let the world tell you it's story.

  2. I love systems! I love games that start out easy (hit the dude) and end up complex (if I upgrade this armor or get this ability, then I can combo these two skills together to get bonus damage and, and, and). As you level up in a RP world, these systems should overlap, provide unique gameplay features, and expand your enjoyment of the world. Look for my games to add complex layers to make you strong and feel like you're really growing in the world.

  3. Every button press should feel like you're doing "something." Whether it's exploring a town, upgrading a weapon, or getting a new pet, you shouldn't have to feel like constantly navigating a menu is your only chore. I aim to make menu navigation easy and intuitive. However...

  4. Games should have some "friction" Automatically equipping every new armor or auto-forging the newest weapon makes games feel too ...automated. I think there should be some exploring and learning with the game. Secrets are fun too! It encourages people to explore and understand what the world is about.

I'm excited to post about my first game, coming soon (but not Blizzard Soon. It'll be Soonerer than that).

Come join me on my adventures!
